چکیده

Extreme environments such as soda lakes are potential sources of microbes with biotechnological applications in different sectors. This study aimed at isolation, characterization and investigation antibacterial actinobacteria from Momela Soda Lakes, Arusha National Park Tanzania. One hundred twenty (120) isolates were recovered soil water samples using the dilution plate technique. The morphologically biochemically characterized, further, screened for antimicrobial activity by disc diffusion method well micro Cytotoxic effects determined brine shrimp lethality test. Results showed that, all 120 Gram-positive rod-coccus shaped. Forty-four out them against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli. Streptomyces (101TI) Dietzia (56BI) strains exhibited exceptionally higher compared to rest inhibition zones 16.25 21.00 mm, respectively. These two toxic shrimp-larvae. Microbacterium (5LI), Hoyosella (113BI), (62BI), (117SI), (37SI) (3BI) had low cytotoxic activities. therefore revealed that Lakes harbour potential.

Isolation and Characterisation of Actinobacteria from Algerian Sahara Soils with Antimicrobial Activities

Extreme ecosystems can be a source of untapped micro-organisms able to produce novel bioactive compounds of industrial interest. Consequently, in this work, 32 Actinomycetes were isolated from 6 soil samples collected from Algerian Sahara in searching for untapped producers of novel antimicrobial compounds. All the isolates were further subjected to antimicrobial screening against pathogenic ba...

Antimicrobial potential of actinobacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of the Caatinga biome plant Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul.

Actinobacteria are known to produce various secondary metabolites having antibiotic effects. This study assessed the antimicrobial potential of actinobacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. from the Caatinga biome. Sixty-eight actinobacteria isolates were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against different microorganisms by disk diffusion and submerged fermenta...

Introducing antimicrobial exopolymer-producing actinobacteria from soils of Iran

Exopolymers (EPS) are high-molecular-weight polymers secreted by some micro-organisms and have several applications in food, pharmaceutical, packaging and agricultural industries, as well as medicine. Actinobacteria are valuable bacteria in biotechnology and many commercial drugs such as antibiotics, antioxidants and immune-suppressant agents are derived from Actinobacteria. Recently, their oth...

Comparative Genome Analysis of Three Thiocyanate Oxidizing Thioalkalivibrio Species Isolated from Soda Lakes

Thiocyanate is a C1 compound containing carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur. It is a (by)product in a number of natural and industrial processes. Because thiocyanate is toxic to many organisms, including humans, its removal from industrial waste streams is an important problem. Although a number of bacteria can use thiocyanate as a nitrogen source, only a few can use it as an electron donor. There are...
